Rameshwari

Rameshwari (also known as Rameshwari Talluri) is the first Telugu actress to gain some recognition in Bollywood, before another -Telugu actress Jayaprada took over to become a bigger success. She is originally from West Godavari and spent her childhood: in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh. She graduated from FTII in 1975.

 

Biography

She is best known for her two hit Hindi films Dulhan Wahi Jo Piya Man Bhaye (1977) and Aasha (1980) the latter earned her a Film fare Nomination as Best Supporting Actress.

She also acted in her mother tongue language of Telugu, in the hit film Seeiamalakshmi. She married Punjabi actor and producer Deepak Seth and has two sons with him Bhaskara Pratap Seth and Surya Prem Seth.

She took a retirement from acting to raise her children, but returned to acting in films, playing mother roles. She and her husband have also produced a Punjabi film titled Mein Tuun Assin Tussin (2007) based on the Shakespeare's play The Comedy of Errors. She Acted in Telugu Film Nijam as Mahesh Babu Mother with good Performance throughout the film.

Her most recent release, Dil Bole Hadippa was screened at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2009 under the Yash Raj Films banner but did not perform well.

She has also been a quick and clever stage performer and even took part in several international tours. She also gave her good efforts, as performing with Shah Rukh Khan, Sa if Ali Khan, Preity Zinta.Arjun Rampal and with Priyanka Chopra in 2004 Temptation concert. Giving her appearance at Closing Ceremony of the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, she performed a part of showcasing the Indian culture on behalf of 2010 Commonwealth Games.
